Job Summary

Set up trust and investment accounts by identifying potential clients and gathering assets into the trust department. Work to implement strategies which achieve client goals.. Coordinate legal, tax, and financial paperwork associated with the account, and ensure compliance with bank and government regulations. Also, assist with creating and maintaining investment portfolios.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Essential Duties

Trust:

  • Identify clients who would benefit from owning assets in a Trust.
  • Work with Clients, Attorneys, and CPAs to assist in structuring trusts to meet client goals.
  • Assist Senior Trust Officer in administration of trusts and estate accounts.
  • Service existing clients over time.
  • Work with beneficiaries to meet their needs and understand their rights and responsibilities.

Investments:

  • Identify clients who would benefit from an investment advisory relationship.
  • Establish and define client relationships.
  • Gather client data and discuss financial goals.
  • Analyze and evaluate current financial status.
  • Develop and present financial recommendations.
    • Work on a strategy on to implement the recommendations.
    • Monitor and adjust the recommendations over time.
  • Find new sales leads, through business directories, client referrals, etc.
  • Participate in community events. I.E. parades, golf outings, and other outside bank functions. 

Secondary Duties

The position of Trust/Investment Officer performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

The position of Trust/Investment Officer is not responsible for the supervision of any employees, however the position is required to provide leadership, training and support to less experienced branch staff members.

 

Work Environment

This job operations in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field is preferred.
  • 5 years' experience in a Financial Advisory or Brokerage role; and/or 5 years' experience at a Trust Company is required.
  • Series 7 and 63 Licenses are preferred.
  • CFP and/or CTFA certification is preferred. If these certifications don't currently exist, the ability to obtain these certifications will be required.
  • Must be able to take into account a range of information, including economic trends, regulatory changes, and the client's risk tolerance and goals.
  • Ability to establish trust with clients and respond well to their questions and concerns.
  • Strong mathematical skills are required. This position is responsible for determining the amount invested, how that amount will grow or decrease over time, and how a portfolio is distributed among different investments.
  • Strong sales background is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work well independently with little direction and be self-motivated to succeed.
  • Business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on client needs effectively.
